Volunteers assist in all areas of the shelter, including animal care, customer service, maintenance, special events and fund-raisers. We appreciate your interest in wanting to help us care for the stray or abandoned animals in our community. Here is some information to help you get started volunteering.

1. Fill out an Volunteer Application. (Volunteers must be 16 years old to volunteer at the shelter without a parent or guardian).

2. A staff member will be in contact with you to discuss our volunteer opportunities, and schedule your volunteer orientation.

3. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of two hours per month over a six month period.

4. Volunteers will be asked to schedule the times they are willing and able to come in.

5. Volunteers must attend a one hour volunteer orientation session, which is scheduled 2-3 times per month. This orientation is designed for those volunteers who will be working at the shelter with the animals. Volunteers interested in helping with special events and fundraisers will not have to attend this orientation, but will speak directly with the shelter manager, or event coordinator. The orientation will include a general overview of the shelter, covering topics such as shelter policies and procedures, animal health, and safety issues.
